Christina Schaefer IBCLC, RLC, CPD

_DSC4313.1.jpg I have worked in obstetrics for too many years to admit with fabulous women mentors. When I became pregnant with my first child, I was unaware of the struggles that I would face while adjusting to life as a new mother. As my family grew, so did anxiety and depression, and support became sparse. My personal experience during this difficult time fuels my passion for empowering mothers who may be experiencing  similar struggles. Subsequently, I have been supporting women in the Panhandle since 2009 with a growing fire to bring education and awareness to the community. The Emerald Coast Alliance for Breastfeeding Support credited my service with the 2013 Frankie Mims Spirit of Service Award as a Certified Lactation Educator and Counselor. My credentials as an IBCLC, RLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Registered Lactation Consultant) proudly followed in 2014. I have had the honor of attending many out of hospital births as a former Midwife Assistant and IBCLC for 5 years with various forms of consultations including hospital, office, group, and private in-home visits.  My love of community service breathes on as an active member and Leader of La Leche League International. Additionally, I have attended training through CAPPA as a Labor Doula and continued certification as a Postpartum Doula supporting women as they transition into motherhood. But my greatest achievement still remains my two fabulously spunky children who continue to challenge everything I thought I once knew about life. I would not have it any other way.
